Favourite Eye "Wear"

Hello everyone!

This is my first post in Eyenstein, and would like to thank everyone who stopped by :)

I started this blog mainly because I love eye make-up and love even more to share with friends and people who enjoy prettifying themselves. If you love eye make-up and want to know tips, latest trends and product reviews, you have come to the right place!

A little about me, I started "experimenting" and "exploring" eye make-up products at age 14, just like many young girls who start to get curious and want to look pretty. I was told I had nice eyes and so I decided to focus and enhance them to make myself look prettier. Most of the time, I use earthy colours, like browns, nude, light pink, etc. I thought that would be easy for a daily look but then I decided not to be lazy and boring anymore and aiming to play around with more colours.

Of course, feedback and recommendations are greatly welcomed and appreciated. Share with me your favourites and technics as well! I'm not a pro after all, and these products are what I found in the midst of my exploration.

Well, let's move on to today's topic! (I'm sure some of you already scrolled all the way to the bottom to see what products I am gonna talk about today hahaha..)

The products I'm gonna share below are my favourites and would usually use everyday. They are still "earthy" but as I go along, I hope to make it more colourful..

From left to right: (top)
MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Let's Skate
Benefit Lemon Aid
NARS Single Eye shadow in Galapagos
(bottom)
Catrice duo eye brush

I especially love this brush from Catrice because #1 it's cheap! Only $4.90 at Guardian. It is duo type with a smokey eye brush on one side, and a liner brush on the other. #2 the smokey eye brush is really soft and works as well as any other ponytail brushes. The liner brush is a little plastic-y but firm enough to be able to glide your liner on your lids. Nope, the plastic-y brush is still soft enough so it doesn't cut your lids.

MAC came up with this pro longwear range which I absolutely love! You know that feeling where your eyes get smudged or your eye shadow wear off after coming back from lunch?? Totally helpless right? MAC's pro longwear series ensure everything stays intact even after sleeping in it (not that I encourage that).. This pink is also really lovely, it gives shimmer to your lids and it can be used as a base as well. I have some dark pigmentation on my lids, so when I put this on, it brightens and highlights my double eyelids and make me look refreshed at 8 in the morning.
Here's a swatch of it :)
And I am sure I don't have to tell you where to get MAC products..

Next up: NARS single eye shadow in Galapagos
This shade is very very dark.. I usually use it as a liner, or when I want to darken my eyes for night make-up. The bad thing is that it smudges so when I use it on my bottom lid, I become a panda when I step out of the house. Otherwise it's a very lovely colour. The gold shimmer adds on to the texture. I just sometimes love a little glitter or shimmer to monotonous colours..
I don't have a swatch of it, but I will post pictures when I am using it.

 From top to bottom:
Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Amethyst
MAC Pro Longwear Eye Liner in Rich Experience
Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in Black Turquoise

Sorry the swatches are quite blurred..

Laura Mercier recently make a breakthrough into my world after I attended their make-up workshop in Tangs. Their caviar stick eye colour is also smudge-free. It applies on like a crayon and you can smudge it along your lids with a brush or fingers, after it's dried it stays there until you remove them with a make-up remover. They come in other colours as well but this is their signature and also my favourite. It's a purplish brown colour, with a slight metallic sheen. I like to use it daily, just a hint of it at the outer corner of my lids.

It's kohl pencil doesn't work as good though. The colour is really unique, black with tinch of turqouise. But it smudges on my lower lids right after application.. it's quite saddening. Maybe I will try again, let it dry up before I start blinking..

And there's MAC pro longwear again.. Their eye liner in Rich Experience. A dark brown liner which looks natural most of the time. Usually for eye liners I use dark brown as I find black too "gothic". As MAC pro longwear range, this liner doesn't smudge also, even if you use it on your lower lids. I tried rubbing it once to test it's limit, the liner drops off in small bits rather than making you look like a panda. Thumbs up! haha..

From top to bottom:
Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes
Rituals Elegance Lengthening Mascara
Elite BB Lash Mascara

Mascaras are my favourite eye make-up and I am very particular when I choose them. I always complain that I have short lashes and I need something that can 1) Lengthen 2) Volume 3) not smudge. We know there isn't much perfect products so far.. so I tend to over-buy mascaras. Besides the 3 you see above, I have probably another 10-12 more..

Lancome has always been known for their performing mascaras. I love their Amplicils mascara and now this Hypnose Doll Eyes is even better. The only down side is that it smudges on my lower lids after lunch time, and it usually volumise more than it lengthens.

I came across Rituals mascara when I was in Holland for a holiday 4 months ago. I believe it's from UK and nope, we don't have it in Singapore yet, sadly. I bought 2 of their mascaras, 1 of them which is in the picture. Although it says lengthening, it doesn't really. But what is impressive is their non-smudge formula. And with that, I combined with MAC pro longwear range and I have perfect eye make-up throughout the day!

Elite BB lash mascara is also not available in Singapore. I got this from Boots in Thailand for just about THB200. It is actually a mascara for lower lash. If you want to do a dolly look and need lengthening for your lower lashes, this works wonders. I tried using on my upper lashes and it works as well, only that it's such a small tube to use too much of it each time.

Browhaus Extend Lash and Brow Serum

This is a must have! Introduced to me by Browhaus (when I was there for brow tweezing..) I was quite skeptical about it at first. I got it because I was quite desperate after losing lashes on lash extensions.. So I got it and faithfully put it on every single night. It gave me grown lashes in just 2-3 weeks! Miracle. It is also said to fill up empty brow spots. I didn't try it because I was more concerned on my lashes.. There's a slight down side though I am not sure if it is because of this serum. After I stopped using it, my lashes started to drop much easier. I started using again recently, and would probably need to get a new one soon.
Not cheap though, would need to watch your pockets if you want to buy this one. Costs $89.90 (not sure if was promo price, and GST exclusive).
Sacrifices we make for precious little eye hair..

After wearing all the stuff on your eyes the whole day, nothing works like L'Oreal's Gentle Lip and Eye make-up remover. They sell the Eye make-up remover only but it doesn't work as good as the combined one. So I will always get this for make-up removal, it comes in useful when you want to remove a pro longwear lip colour as well ;)
Other make-up removers don't work as well for me. Watsons is selling this for $14.90 now (grab it when they are having sale) or you can get from those cheaper shops like Venus, or Beauty Story, etc..

Lastly, this is a blurred picture of my proudly smudge-free eye make-up, with MAC and Rituals. Hope you guys enjoyed what I have shared and I will share more in time to come!

Happy weekends!
